Russell Smallridge

Sales Director , Meon

From a young age, a developing interest in construction zeroed in on highways and infrastructure. Working in the family construction business kick-started a career of growth, challenge and reward. Stepping out of construction for 10 years into environmental spill control gave invaluable business insights and significantly increased confidence in developing market disruption strategies. Since 2013, the core focus has been supporting a growing team within Meon to craft a business model that challenges the status quo in how we maintain highways in the UK.

A standout achievement is the Three Principles of Project Highways Zero model, now pivotal in influencing change in the industry. Practical experience in road marking and surface repair provides the backbone to an unrivalled depth of knowledge in cold applied methodologies, including high performance road markings, thin-lay surface rejuvenation and a revolutionary ironworks system that makes our highways safer, longer lasting and more sustainable.

  • Low-carbon procurement: How requirements are evolving and what suppliers need to deliver
  • Whole-life carbon costing: How prioritisation tools that combine cost and carbon metrics are changing investment decisions on Scottish roads projects
  • Low-cost net zero actions that local councils can implement now
