Our mission is to provide professional development opportunities, support and leadership for individuals to achieve and maintain professional recognition. We’ve been registering engineers and technicians with the Engineering Council since 1972 and accrediting academic courses since 1989. You can take advantage of our extensive highways experience and trained specialist advisors, mentors and reviewers by becoming a member. Professional Certificate in Temporary Traffic Management - RegTTME(PCert)
How do I achieve the Professional Certificate in TTME? Becoming a corporate member* of the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE) is the first step to achieving the Professional Certificate in TTME. You will need to send a copy of your CV to membership@theihe.org so we can assess the membership grade which is most suitable to you. If you know your grade already, you can apply online here – https://www.theihe.org/membership/membership-types/. * Not a Student or Affiliate Member Once you have been approved as an IHE corporate member, you can then book onto the training course in Temporary Traffic Management Engineering (Certificate) at a discounted rate. Through this rigorous academic training course, delivered by industry professionals, you will learn the skills and information required for the achievement of the IHE Professional Certificate. Courses can also be run as an in-house option. Please email events@theihe.org if you are interested. You will receive a Certificate of Attendance with CPD just for attending the course. If you wish to go on to apply for the Professional Certificate you will need to successfully complete all course assignments before submitting an electronic portfolio of evidence to the IHE showing your competence. NB: the Professional Certificate is not awarded automatically just for attending the course you must make a portfolio submission to the IHE which is explained in this guidance. Gaining the Professional Certificate and Use of Post-Nominals RegTTME(PCert) To gain the Professional Certificate in Temporary Traffic Management Engineering, engineers and technicians must prove their competence and commitment in a Professional Review of their portfolio submission to the IHE. Once you successfully complete the course and are a corporate member of the IHE, you will need to submit an electronic portfolio of evidence to gain the Professional Certificate. You can access the Professional Certificate application form by logging into the IHE members area and going to Professional Certificates & Dipomas/RegTTME(PCert). Once your portfolio is submitted to the IHE, it will be assessed by an industry professional and go to the IHE Membership & Qualifications Committee for ratification. If successful, you will gain the Professional Certificate in TTME and be entitled to use the post-nominals RegTTME(PCert). Please note: You must submit your portfolio within one year of completing the course.
