Andrew Hunter

Service Lead, Transport & Logistics, Highland Council

I started with the then Highland Regional Council as a trainee civil engineering design technician in 1992. From then, most of my working life has been working mainly for Highland Council but with some time spent working for Angus Council and Scotland Transerv.

I have worked in major roads design, roads maintenance, and road safety and traffic functions. My last role was as a Senior Engineer helping the area teams manage strategic functions such as Winter Maintenance and annual Surface dressing programmes. In September 2022 after exactly 30 years in the Roads environment, I became Service Lead for Transport and Logistics within Highland Council managing a fleet of approximately 1,400 vehicles, a network of stores, seven workshops and 85 staff.

I currently live on the Isle of Skye with my wife and two daughters and split my working time between Skye and our headquarters in Inverness.
