Alex Stedmon

Director, Open Road Simulation

Professor Alex Stedmon is a world expert in Psychology and Human Factors.

Alex works as an independent road safety consultant specialising in driver and rider behaviour.  He also works as an expert witness for the courts and is invited to assist in complex cases of driver and rider psychology.

During 2022 to 2023, Alex was the President of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors, and has been awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor appointment in Psychology at Cardiff University. 

Alex is a keen motorcyclist and is working with Transport Scotland and BEAR (NW Ltd) conducting the world’s first road trials of new road markings (known as PRIMEs) designed to help motorcyclists approaching bends.

This presentation provides an overview of the completed research and findings over 22 trial sites between 2020 and 2022.
