The Centre of Excellence for Decarbonising Roads

Stand C15
As part of the Live Labs 2 project, The Centre represents one of the four themes of ADEPT Live Labs 2: Decarbonising Local Roads, a three year, UK-wide, £30 million programme funded by the Department for Transport (DfT). Our goal is to remove barriers to innovation within local authorities through sharing knowledge of trialled low-carbon materials.

CEDR - Resurfacing Supersite Highway Trials
Our North Campus Supersite trials in North Lanarkshire tested a variety of road products in real life conditions – from in-situ recycling to low carbon binders. In partnership with the University of Nottingham, Aspen University and the Future Highways Research Group, we will analyse each product and methods’ performance, durability and carbon impact, determining their contribution to taking our roads towards net zero. Trialling innovative road materials and methodologies. Many thanks to North Lanarkshire Council for supporting the delivery. Stay tuned for the results of our trials later in 2025.
