Regional Asset Manager (Structures), Network RailAs Regional Asset Manager (Structures) for Network Rail on Scotland’s Railway, Stewart is responsible for the management of approximately 12,500 structures assets including 4,521 bridges, 69 tunnels and 3 major structures. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the design, construction, inspection, assessment and asset management of rail and road structures.
Stewart has been in his current role for six years and has worked for Network Rail and its predecessor since 2001. Prior to that he worked for a Roads Authority for four years and a civil engineering consultancy for nine years

The application of new technologies in Network Rail structures examinations.
This presentation will provide a high level introduction to a number of initiatives that Network Rail is developing around the country, through the application of new technology, aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of the examination process for its structures. This includes programmes of work relating to bridges, tunnels and retaining walls. It will include examples of programmes still in the early stage of research and development through to those that are now part of the business as usual process.
